We made more memory and performance improvements. AI Chat, Notes and Settings now each run in their own process, so a busy chat or a heavy note no longer slows down Root Search, and closing them frees up their memory. The launcher can use up to 35% less memory while idle. File Search uses up to 80% less memory at peak and up to 95% less while searching, searches are up to 30% faster, and background indexing uses much less CPU. More details are below.
💬 Send Context to AI
Two new commands let you show AI exactly what you're looking at. Send Element to AI lets you hover over anything on your screen, like a paragraph, an image or a button, and click to send it to AI Chat. To share a whole window instead, use Send Window to AI.
Tip: Assign a hotkey like ⌘ + ⇧ + 0 to Send Element to AI to grab context even faster.
✨ New
- Custom AI Providers: You can now give custom provider models Raycast's Web Search, Read Page, Search Images and Chart tools. Turn them on with a
toolsblock inproviders.yaml, and choose whether each one runs on Raycast, your company gateway, or a vendor you have a key for (Tavily, Exa, Firecrawl, Brave, Perplexity or Jina) - Script Commands: Added controls to enable or disable background refresh for individual scripts
💎 Improvements
- AI: Made AI requests smaller, so local models reply to a simple message much faster than before and simple requests use fewer credits, without sacrificing response quality. Initial context is now 15% smaller for normal queries, and 40% smaller with automatic extension and skill discovery turned off
- AI: Improved Quick Fix performance
- AI Skills: Improved error details to help AI recover when a skill cannot be loaded
- AI Chat: Included archived chats in sidebar search results
- AI Chat: The extensions list in chat settings now shows every extension whose tools the chat uses, including Terminal, Finder and Automations
- AI Commands: AI Commands and automations no longer stop to show a question form. They now include any question in their reply instead
- AI Commands: When Replace Selection can't paste the response, the response is kept on your clipboard and in Clipboard History, and a warning tells you it was copied. This also applies to Translator
- Dictation: We now show a clearer status when wrapping up sessions and confirm with a success HUD when finishing a session
- Dictation: We improved post-processing to be faster and more reliable
- Clipboard History: Added an option to save Universal Clipboard items from your iPhone or iPad as soon as they arrive. Find it under Clipboard History settings
- Extensions: Added support for pasting files copied from Finder or File Explorer directly into file pickers
- File Search: Improved CPU and memory utilization. It now uses up to 80% less memory at peak and up to 95% less while searching. Searches are also up to 30% faster, depending on the search terms and number of documents
- File Search: Common development environment caches (e.g.
.cargo/global-cache,.venv) are now excluded from indexing - File Search: Added image dimensions to the details panel
- Memory & Performance: AI Chat, Notes and Settings now each run in their own process, separate from the launcher. A busy AI Chat or a heavy note no longer slows down Root Search, closed windows free their memory after a cooldown period so Raycast uses less while idle, and it's easier to see which part of Raycast is using memory or CPU
- Navigation: Added support for
Page UpandPage Downin lists and grids - Root Search: Improved ranking to favor complete words and exact title matches while preserving results learned from your previous searches
- Root Search: Prioritized applications when results are otherwise equally relevant
- Settings: AI Model provider sections in the Manage Models settings page now persist their collapsed state
- Settings: Opening a setting or command from elsewhere in Raycast now reliably scrolls to it and highlights it, including when you switch settings pages or select the same item again
- Startup: Raycast now waits for the keychain to become available instead of showing "Failed to start". If it waits more than 10 seconds, it tells you what it's waiting for
